Editor Untying the Bow, The Museum at FIT, New York, March 1 – 24, 2024

• The exhibition Untying the Bow was organized by FIT graduate students in collaboration with the museum. As the editor, my primary responsibilities were to oversee the content of the writing, including interpretive labels and section texts; to edit and format the writing; to ensure coherence between the content and design departments; and to organize the content and publication of the exhibition catalog.

Experience

Archive Assistant F. Schumacher & Co. – New York, NY

• Accession incoming historic and new collection objects to Collector Systems database to support digitization project for archive of over 50,000 objects (includes textiles and wallpapers produced by Schumacher & acquired brands, and inspiration collection of historic textiles, 17th century onwards); Process and update outgoing loans.
• Write object descriptions, research history of object techniques and manufacture, contextualize provenance, conservation stitch accession labels, document condition, identify unique storage needs and house objects using proper archival materials following textile conservation and preventive care protocol, track and update accurate object locations as needed.
• Steward execution of object photography: schedule & oversee professional photography, prepare objects for photography, organize digital files, track photographed objects via Excel file; photograph objects using CaptureOne.
•Fulfill research requests for Design and Hospitality teams. Requests entail selecting historic fabrics based on thematic guidelines and researching the histories of designers, designs, or fabrics related to F. Schumacher & Co. brands; research projects may be showcased during company-wide town hall meetings to further brand education & history to internal staff. Host archival tours for internal staff and external designers, showcasing history of Schumacher company and designs.

Gallery Associate Forum Gallery – New York, NY

• Welcomed and introduced clients to the gallery and current exhibitions, liaised between clients and gallery directors, assisted art-handlers in moving artworks into viewing room for client meetings.
• Administrative & organizational support: updated artist bios and CVs; created fact sheets for works; managed accounts payable Excel; scanned and filed physical & digital files; researched in physical archives.
• Fulfilled and shipped book order sales using Amazon Seller or QuickBooks POS system.
• ArtBase data management system used for collection inventory and client & contact records.

Collections Management Internship Blue: Tatter Textile Library – Brooklyn, NY

• Researched and cataloged a collection of over 100 weaving, knitting, and lacemaking tools, textile samples, and ephemera donated by Milton Sonday in CatalogIt database. Cataloging included cultural and technical research, measuring dimensions, recording color and material, adding accession numbers using archival materials, and object photography. Research conducted using Tatter’s extensive reference library.
• Rehoused objects in storeroom following collections management protocol, using materials such as acid-free tissue paper and archival blueboard boxes.

Collections Assistant Helen Uffner Vintage – New York, NY

• Created lists of rental garments for clients, added labels with catalog numbers to garments not yet recorded in the master list, and restocked rental garments in correct stockroom location as well as surveyed the stock to ensure all garments were in correct locations (organized chronologically).
• Researched specialized topics based on the collection, such as nineteenth century women's footwear and mourning attire, and wrote short-form blog posts for social media accompanied by photographs taken of vintage and antique garments in the collection.

Sales Associate & Visual Merchandiser (Keyholder) Rachel Comey – New York, NY

• Consistently achieved monthly individual and store goals by cultivating and maintaining relationships with key clientele and leading individual styling sessions (in person and virtually).
• Daily administrative and operational responsibilities such as processing new inventory, fulfilling web orders, monitoring customer service chat on Klarna, overseeing stock and organization of office and retail supplies, and liaising between production, retail, and warehouse departments.
• TeamWork application system used for sales receipts, stock transfers, purchase orders, ship memos.
